Jose Mourinho is confident in his players |
JOSE MOURINHO has claimed Chelsea have played better than their early season results have produced.
The Blues drew on the opening day to Crystal Palace, lost 3-0 away to Manchester City, beat West Brom and then slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.
And the form of Branislav Ivanovic, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and captain John Terry has come under scruntiny.
But with the international break to reflect, Mourinho said he was confident in his team and expressed his belief in the underperforming players.
He said: "The only thing I can share is that in every match we played better than the result. Every result we got was less than we did to get the better result. Even against West Bromwich where we won, the 3-2 victory looks a very, very, very tight match and it wasn't.
"The result should be completely different. I say the same in the defeats against City and Palace and the draw against Swansea. Circumstances of the match gave us results worse than the performance. So I'm positive.
"You know you can say both ways: the team is underperforming because some players are underperforming, or some players are underperforming and because of that the team is underperforming.
"We are strong. We are together. I believe in them. They believe in me. So we are positive.
"I would prefer to play immediately. I would prefer to work and play. But, at the same time, it gave me time to think, to analyse, to watch our matches, to prepare Everton, to prepare Maccabi Tel-Aviv. So, I used my time, didn't go on holidays, I used my time."
