Apple is looking into making its iPhones compatible with Li-Fi, new code has revealed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The new wireless technology was invented by <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/forget-wifi-this-new-technology-will.html" rel="nofollow">Harald Haas, a researcher at the University of Edinburgh, back in 2011</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The <a href="http://newsnewsblog.blogspot.com/2015/11/forget-wifi-this-new-technology-will.html" rel="">cutting-edge technology was tested in a number of real-world trials in Estonia last year,</a> where speeds of over 1GB per second were recorded – around 100 times faster than current home wifi speeds.</div>

And that has clearly piqued the interest of the world’s most valuable technology company.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to code buried within iOS 9.1, Apple is looking into making its iPhone range compatible with the futuristic wireless technology.</div>

It’s unclear whether how Apple will use the Li-Fi technology in its products.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since the infrastructure for Li-Fi is not currently in-place, Apple could adapt the technology for its own uses – speeding up data transfers between its products in an improved version of AirDrop.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apple filed for a technology patent in 2013 that described an "optical modulation using an image sensor" that could receive transmitted data using the rear camera.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It would be desirable to provide a camera in a mobile device that can receive information transmitted by a light,” the US patent describes.</div>

Aeroplane wifi has come a long way. State-of-the-art jets are being fitted with wireless internet, allowing passengers to access emails, tweets and Facebook updates.</div>

But after a quick log-in process (and an expensive 24hour rate) we found ourselves enjoying reasonable speeds throughout the 5,300 mile journey across the globe.</div>

Amazingly, we rarely dipped below 7Mbps – almost four times faster than many UK residents get from fixed broadband at home.</div>

Although that's plenty fast to stream Netflix, <i>NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com</i> has some troubling getting the popular on-demand video service to load – after the US service couldn't identify our region as we crossed the pond.</div>

The current minimum set for UK internet access is around 28.8 kilobits a second, but the aim is to provide speeds of at least 2Mbps to all British homes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some 1.25 million UK homes currently have a broadband speed of 2Mbps or less. However the UK average is much higher, sitting at around 22.8Mbps.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Government has already set aside as much as £1.6billion to increase speeds.</div>

Jenny Fry, 15, was found hanging in Chadlington, Oxfordshire after she began suffering from an allergic reaction to wifi, or electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome (EHS).</div>

In an inquest into Jenny’s death this week, her mother told Oxfordshire Coroners’ Court her daughter suffered from tiredness, headaches and bladder problems caused by irritation to wireless broadband. </div>

The coroner could not conclude Jenny killed herself because of EHS, as no medical notes existed saying she suffered from the condition. But the case highlighted a growing concern.</div>
