MANCHESTER CITY manager-to-be Pep Guardiola has set his sights on Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
City announced yesterday that current Bayern Munich boss Guardiola will take over from Manuel Pellegrini in the summer on a three-year deal.
And according to Football Insider, the Spaniard will use some of his £150million transfer budget to tempt Arsenal to sell 25-year-old Ramsey.
Guardiola is thought to be a big admirer of the Wales international, but News News Blog Sport understand he'll face stiff competition from Barcelona for his signature.
The new City manager is reportedly plotting an overhaul at the Etihad in the summer and is keen on signing a new centre-back, right-back, left-back, central midfielder, winger and striker.
Guardiola could fail in his pursuit to land Ramsey in the summer, with the former Cardiff youth recently opening the door to a future move to La Liga.
“Obviously it’s very flattering,” he told the Guardian when asked about Barcelona's interest.
“They did the treble last year and it’s just really nice to be linked with one of the best clubs in the world.
“One day I would like to go over to Spain to play just to see what it’s like and to experience that.
“But at the moment I’m with Arsenal and I feel like this Arsenal team can go and be successful and challenge for things.”
