LEICESTER star Jamie Vardy was almost sold to Sheffield Wednesday six months ago, according to reports.

Revealed: Nigel Pearson agreed £5m deal to sell Jamie Vardy to Sheffield Wednesday
Nigel Pearson reportedly sanctioned the sale of Jamie Vardy to Sheffield Wednesday

A £5million deal was in place for Vardy to join the Championship club, claims website Football Insider.
It's understood Nigel Pearson sanctioned the deal and the England international was within touching distance of the move.

However, Wednesday's new Thai owner Dejphon Chansiri pulled the plug as he was not convinced by the former Fleetwood man.

It's believed former boss Pearson didn't think Vardy could cut it in the Premier League, despite assistant Steve Walsh advising him not to sell.
And Walsh's faith has since been repaid, as Vardy has taken the League by storm this season - highlighted by his wonderstrike against Liverpool last night.

The striker has scored 18 times in all competitions this term and wrote his name into the history books by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League games earlier on in the campaign.
His fine form has reportedly attracted interest from top clubs Chelsea and Liverpool, and the Guardian claim he will be offered a new contract until 2019 with a considerable increase on his current £40,000-a-week wages.
