NEWCASTLE have made a late shock bid for Swansea's Bafetimbi Gomis, according to reports.

Newcastle launch shock late bid for Premier League striker
Gomis would join Ayoze Perez, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Seydou Doumbia up front

With their £24million bid for Saido Berahino apparently rejected Newcastle are now shifting their sights to Swansea for a striker.
Gomis would be their second loan signing of the day with Seydou Doumbia already having completed his move to the north east.
The Mirror are reporting that the 30-year-old Gomis has been a long-term target for Newcastle.

And after Steve McClaren's three bids for Berahino were rejected the Magpies will now focus their full attention on bringing Gomis to the club.
Previous efforts to sign the player have been blocked by Swansea.
However, Premier League survival and the future managerial situation are both unclear at the Liberty Stadium.

And the Frenchman may see the news of Newcastle's efforts to sign him as the perfect opportunity to force a transfer away from south Wales.
Gomis has been a Swansea regular this season but has managed only five Premier League goals in 21 games so far this season.
