JAMIE VARDY is closing in on a new and improved deal at Leicester.
The Foxes are desperate to keep hold of their sought-after striker after his stunning first-half of the season.
The England international has 16 goals to his name already and has caught the attention of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Vardy was linked with a high-profile move away in the January window, along with winger Riyad Mahrez, but manager Claudio Ranieri refused to sell.
And now the Premier League leaders are set to keep hold of Vardy until the summer of 2019 after offering him a deal worth £70,000-a-week.
The 29-year-old, who was picking up £100 playing part-time at Fleetwood three years ago, will become the highest earner at the King Power with his bumper £12million contract.
Leicester landed the pacey striker for just £1m in 2012 under former boss Nigel Pearson and has gone on to score 42 goals in 131 appearances for the club.
Vardy has continued to remain loyal to the Foxes when talking about his future, insisting he shares the ambition of both the manager and owners.
“Yes, Leicester match my ambitions,” Vardy said on his future. “I think the gaffer has come in and told the owners what he wants to do, and he wants to keep progressing.
"He wants to progress on what we did last year and then, in the years to come, he wants to keep us going up and up and up."
