ALEX TEIXEIRA has opened up on his failed move to Liverpool - but kept the door open to join in the summer.

Alex Teixeira is set to ply his trade in China

Teixeira is set to join the burgeoning Chinese Super League after agreeing a £38million to Jiangsu Suning.

Liverpool spent most of the January transfer window trying to sign the 26-year-old, with chief executive Ian Ayre flying out to the USA for talks with Shakhtar.

The Reds refused to meet Teixeira's £38m valuation, reportedly bidding as high as £25m.

But while the Brazilian forward is now focused on his next career step in China, he remains keen on playing in the Premier League.

"I wanted to make it to the English Premier League one day," he said.

"But until now, all my thoughts have been focused on Shakhtar. As I said, everything happens so fast that I don't even have time to realise it."

Teixeira wants to break into the Brazil set-up and thinks playing in England might help boost that.

And while he has international dreams, he admits he does not know what will happen in the future.

"At this stage, the Brazil national team will move away from me a little further," Teixeira said.

"But let's see what happens in the future!"

Teixeira was candid when discussing Liverpool's interest in him, having revealed days before Monday's deadline he wanted to join the Merseyside club.

"Let's put it like this: everyone always knew that I wanted to stay in Europe and move to the English Premier League club," he added.

"But, unfortunately, all the proposals that came from them, were somewhat windy and did not contain anything concrete.

"Now I have received a serious offer from China. Of course, I’m moving there."
