Transfer News: Chelsea hijack Man Utd deal, Liverpool's £35m target, star's Arsenal plea

Chelsea have beaten Manchester United to young Ajax midfielder Juan Familia Castillo, according to reports.

United are understood to have opened talks with the teenager in November, but negotiations stretched on for a month, giving Castillo cold feet.

And according to the Daily Mail, the Blues made a better offer and used Guus Hiddink's influence to lure the Dutchman to Stamford Bridge.

Brendan Rodgers has revealed how Liverpool missed out on £35million star Alexis Sanchez following the sale of Luis Suarez.

He told Goals on Sunday: "I manage the club how I want to but there were other conditions that meant that we could not get players that I wanted in. 

"The huge blow for us was we felt we were getting Alexis Sanchez. We thought Luis was going and he would have been the like for like replacement.

"If we had got Alexis in after Luis going, it would have been a smooth transition. Then we were bringing Rickie Lambert…"

 

Mathieu Debuchy has accused Arsene Wenger of misleading him about his Arsenal future, saying he wants out in January.

"I would have preferred to have left last summer but the coach told me I would have my chance. It was not the case," he told French newspaper L'Equipe.

"Whatever happens, even if it is to come back here in the summer and leave again, I have to leave this winter. I cannot stay at Arsenal.”
