Tottenham to stun Newcastle and Arsenal by offering winger to Southampton in swap deal
Could Andros Townsend and Victor Wanyama be set to swap places?

News News Blog Sport understands Spurs winger Townsend was last night on the brink of joining Newcastle after they agreed a £10.5million deal.

Townsend is expected to travel to the North-east today to discuss personal terms on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

However, according to The Sun, Spurs are still hoping to use the England international to lure Wanyama to White Hart Lane.

Arsenal are also reportedly keen on the Kenya midfielder, 24, who joined Saints from Celtic for £12.5m in July 2013.

But it is claimed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is planning a shock swap deal involving Townsend and Wanyama.

The Sun add Townsend had set his heart on joining Newcastle, before Saints made their interest known.

Townsend, 24, has been frozen out by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino after clashing with a fitness coach.
