HARRY KANE scored his 50th goal for Spurs to keep his side in the cup with a last-gasp penalty equaliser against Leicester.
Harry Kane netted his first goal of 2016 to ensure Tottenham a trip to the King Power Stadium |
The England international secured a 2-2 draw after Nathan Dyer was harshly judged to have hand-balled in the area just as Claudio Ranieri's side look set to pull off a shock win at White Hart Lane.
Kane's landmark came in only his 104th game, but Pochettino insisted there was nothing special about taking a penalty.
"Good for him," he said. "I'm happy. The goal he scored helped us to stay alive in the FA Cup.
"But there are a lot of players who can take the responsibility of a penalty. It's not a physical quality. Obviously, though, if Harry Kane is on the pitch he's the first to take it."
Kane, who arrived late in the game as a 67th minute substitute, added: "It was very important and we definitely didn't want to go out in the third round. We play them again on Wednesday and will have to play them again in the FA Cup.
"You want to be playing all the time, but it is down to the manager and I just wanted to make an impact when I came on.
"The fans kept us in the game and we're happy we could keep them in it with a replay."
Both managers made wholesale changes but there was still no room in the Spurs squad for Andros Townsend, an England international only three months ago.
"I can pick only 18. You need to put out another player when you pick some names. Always it's about my vision, my opinion, and what I see in the training sessions."
With the two sides set to meet in the Premier League again on Wednesday, Ranieri's selection dilemma regards the fitness of leading scorer Jamie Vardy.
"Today, it is 50-50," he said. "Today he did some training with the physio and tomorrow he will start training with us in terms of a warm up and on Tuesday, we will do the last training session and if he is okay, he will play."
