Tottenham make statement on Jan Vertonghen's knee injury
Jan Vertonghen is helped off the pitch after sustaining an injury

The centre-back hobbled off the pitch in discomfort after clashing with Connor Wickham in the penalty area.
Vertonghen underwent a scan in Barcelona, where Spurs are for a training camp ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie with Colchester.

Reports claimed the Belgian could be out for several weeks but Tottenham took to Twitter to clarify the injury but did not confirm its severity.
They tweeted: "Further assessment & scans have confirmed that @Jan_Vertonghen sustained damage to his medial collateral ligament in his knee at Palace.

"Our medical staff will continue to monitor his progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training."
Vertonghen is almost certain to miss Spurs' next two matches against Colchester and Norwich City.
And will be a doubt for upcoming clashes with Watford, Man City and their Europa League tie with Fiorentina.
