White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy had been holding out for £14m and was reportedly refusing to budge from that figure.

But The Guardian claim personally requested the club accept Newcastle's offer, which gives him time and resources to find a replacement.
The manager remains keen on landing a forward before the transfer window closes, with West Brom's Saido Berahino on his wish list.

Townsend even reportedly rejected a move to the Hawthorns as part of a cash-plus-player deal that would have seen Berahino join Spurs.
The 24-year-old has been frozen out of the Tottenham squad and has not played for the first team since last October.
He is desperate for games in order to earn a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2016.

Pochettino is said to have been impressed with his attitude while playing for the Under 21s and that his request to let Townsend leave is a final goodwill gesture.
It is claimed the switch should be completed within the next 48 hours.
