GOOGLE wished its users a Happy New Year with a special Google Doodle.

The Doodle showed a line of birds wearing Google's signature colours eagerly awaiting the New Year, one of the birds closely watches their watch.
In place of the green 'l' there was a green egg waiting to hatch as the world celebrated the arrival of 2016.

However the baby that hatches from the green egg does not seem to be in anyway related to the birds.
When users click on the egg it will either hatch an alligator, a duck or a stack of tortoises.

Despite the enthusiastic celebrations of the party hat wearing birds the hatchling seems a little confused.
Clicking on the Doodle again will take you to news and pictures about the celebrations held all over the world last night.
People are also encouraged to share the 'Happy New Year from Google; message on social media.
