Steven Gerrard was back pulling the strings for his beloved Liverpool in midweek - and picking up a nice little earner along the way.
Gerard Houllier succeeded where Jurgen Klopp failed by persuading the Kop idol to don the famous shirt once again for a Liverpool legends side in a prestige friendly in Sydney against an Australian equivalent.
Gerrard led a Houllier-elected team to a 4-0 victory, two goals coming from Luis Garcia and one apiece from iconic hitmen Ian Rush and John Aldridge. Gerrard returns to training with LA Galaxy at the end of the month, complete with a bumper cheque worth around £200,000 for his trip Down Under.
