BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER hailed Wayne Rooney's "unbelievable" winner against Swansea.
Anthony Martial had given the home side the lead shortly after the break before Gylfi Sigurdsson's strike on 70 minutes provided a nervy finish for Louis van Gaal's men.
But it was the club captain who came to the Dutchman's rescue with the winner late on.
Rooney's instinctive shot with 13 minutes to go helped United move up to fifth in the table and Schweinsteiger was full of praise for his team-mate after the match.
"Today the victory was very important," the Germain said. "It was not so easy after the equaliser but we kept going. It was not so good after we lost three matches against Bournemouth, Norwich and Stoke, but we responded well.
“The team has character and you can see that. We tried to press. We tried to control the game and score goals. We’ve had chances to score goals. It was important to get two today.
“The influence of Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney is very important for us. They can score goals. It was an unbelievable goal from Wayne. Unfortunately, he couldn’t score against Chelsea, but I think he will be very happy today.”
