LOUIS VAN GAAL will quit Manchester United because he doesn't want to be sacked, according to reports.
Van Gaal, 64, is thought to be on the brink of handing in his notice after another dismal defeat in the league last weekend.
United went down 1-0 to Southampton to record their sixth top-flight loss of the season.
And The Sun claim Van Gaal has finally had enough.
And it is claimed United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has sought the opinion of the players as he deliberates axing the manager.
It is understood the boss himself has had talks with Woodward about his future.
He has spent over £250million on new players since his arrival after the 2014 World Cup, in which he guided the Netherlands to a semi-final finish.
But United appear unwilling to hand him more cash this winter, despite them being linked with a number of players - a sign that the board may be saving reserves for the next man in charge.
