ANTHONY MARTIAL could end up costing Manchester United a British transfer record of more than £60m, according to leaked documents.
United last night refused to comment on claims by a French website that it has obtained the transfer agreement between United and Monaco for the young striker who made a surprise move to Old Trafford on deadline day last summer.
It states United made a £15m down payment to be followed by a further £22.8m on July 1 this year.
On top of that there are also clauses built into the agreement worth another £22.8m.
Monaco will receive £7.6m when Martial scores his 25th competitive goal for United - so far he has netted eight.
They will also receive £7.6m when he makes his 25th appearance for France - so far has six caps - and then another £7.6m if he's short-listed for the Ballon D'Or during his four-year contract with United.
It means Martial could cost United a total of £60.6m if all the add ons are met.
That will be a new British transfer record, beating the £57m they paid Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria in 2014.
Meanwhile, Louis Van Gaal is set to recall Adnan Januzaj to his first team squad for Saturday's home clash with Southampton after the Belgium youngster scored twice and made a goal for the under 21s.
His first run-out since returning from a disastrous loan spell with Borussia Dortmund was watched by Van Gaal's assistant Albert Stuivenberg.
