Thauvin's nightmare spell finally set to end
Florian Thauvin will finally be allowed to move back to Marseille, according to reports.
The 23-year-old completed a £12million move from France to the north east last summer with Remy Cabella going on loan in the other direction.
But Thauvin has made just 13 Premier League appearances, ten from the bench, and has failed to make an impression on manager Steven McClaren.
And with the move for winger Andros Townsend all but complete, French newspaper Le Parisien are claiming McClaren is now happy to let Thauvin return to the south of France.
The deal had been mooted earlier in the month but Newcastle wanted to include an obligatory buy option in the deal.
But with Townsend heading north the Magpies have relaxed their demands and Thauvin will get the chance to move.
Leicester make £8m bid to beat Aston Villa and Newcastle to Remy
Leicester could be set to beat Newcastle to Loic Remy having reportedly lodged a bid of a £8m.
The Chelsea striker has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since arriving in 2014.
And with just eight goals in 28 games for the club, both Aston Villa and Newcastle have shown an interest in signing the player.
But McClaren's search for a striker may have to turn elsewhere as Premier League leaders Leicester have made a bid for him.
However, Remy would be competing with Shinji Okazaki, Jamie Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa meaning Newcastle may be able to offer him greater opportunity.
Townsend deal to set Newcastle back more than £20m
The deal for Tottenham outcast Andros Townsend is set to cost Mike Ashley as much as £21m.
The clubs have finally agreed a transfer fee of £12m despite Daniel Levy attempting to hold out for £14m.
But The Sun claim he will be rewarded with a £45,000-a-week four-year contract which is worth more than £9m to the England winger.
