Newcastle are closing in on the £7million signing of Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis, according to reports.
The 30-year-old French striker is said to be unsettled in Wales and is keen on a move away from the Liberty Stadium.
And French website Get French Football News claim both clubs have come to an agreement on the player's contract length after negotiations moved in a positive direction.
The Magpies are said to be desperate to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes as they bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Newcastle have reportedly enquired about the availability of Roma striker Seydou Doumbia.
Italian newspaper II Messaggero claim Roma are keen to offload the player before the transfer window closes.
And the Magpies are hoping to secure a deal for the forward.
While Arsenal are also said to be have contacted the Serie A side about the striker as they look to offer Olivier Giroud support in their pursuit of the Premier League title
Newcastle are close to completing a deal to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Guilherme Siqueira, according to reports.
The 29-year-old has fallen down the pecking order since Atletico resigned Filipe Luis from Chelsea last summer.
And Sky Sports claim the Brazilian is close to completing a loan move to Newcastle until the end of the season.
Siqueira has made just seven appearances for Diego Simeone's side this season.
