NEWCASTLE have been told they will need to pay £12million to sign Loic Remy, according to reports.
The Magpies are looking to strengthen their attacking options this month and have already agreed a fee with Tottenham for Andros Townsend.
West Brom striker Saido Berhaino was Newcastle’s first choice striker but talks have stalled over a move for the England international, and they made an enquiry about Remy.
And according to the Daily Mail Steve McClaren's side have been told they will need to pay £12m for the Frenchman.
Remy is out of favour at Stamford Bridge, and has played just 28 times in two seasons, scoring eight goals.
And with Alexandre Pato set to join Chelsea from Corinthians, Remy is in danger of falling further down the pecking order in west London.
The striker spent the 2013/14 season at Newcastle and scored 14 goals in 26 appearances.
Newcastle however face competition from Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace for Remy's signature.
But the Eagles interest in the striker may have cooled after they completed a deal to sign former Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
