NEWCASTLE are closing in on a double swoop for Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey.
Henri Saivet and Jonjo Shelvey are both poised to join Newcastle |
Bordeaux winger Saivet is undergoing a medical ahead of a £4million move to Newcastle.
And Express Sport understands Shelvey has told friends he will quit Swansea to sign a five-year deal at St James' Park.
Saivet is set for contract talks should he pass a medical, with Newcastle boss Steve McClaren confirming the move.
"We are just waiting for the outcome really," he said.

"I think everybody would say in January we need to strengthen and we'd like to strengthen. We will have to wait and see.
"We are doing our business quietly and privately. With this one with Henri we will wait until it's done before we comment.
"We are at a sensitive stage where we are going through a medical and negotiating a contract.
"I've seen these deals fall through and everybody has egg on their face. People can get left upset but all I can say is he's in the building.
"When it's all done and signed we will talk about his assets and what he will bring to the team."

Saivet is undergoing a medical at Newcastle |
Newcastle are set to beat their old boss Alan Pardew to the £10m signature of Swansea's unsettled England midfielder Shelvey.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with Swans interim boss Alan Curtis and has already set his sights on the idea of working for former England manager Steve McClaren.
He's been told he'll be used at the heart of the Toon midfield and encouraged to be creative as McClaren tries to turn round a miserable first half of the season which has left the club in the Premier League relegation zone and now out of the FA Cup.
And he's aware that there will be a contract on the table to take him to the summer of 2020 – the deal he signed last summer at Swansea runs out in 2019.

Shelvey swapped Liverpool for Swansea in a £5m move in 2013 |
Shelvey found himself in an argument with Swansea fans when some of them abused him as he went to applaud travelling supporters at the end of the club's 3-2 FA Cup defeat by League Two Oxford yesterday.
But he had already decided it was time to move on after three seasons in South Wales, worried that losing his place in the side under first Garry Monk then Curtis would jeopardise his chances of staying in Roy Hodgson's plans for Euro 2016.
Crystal Palace have also been keen to sign him but Shelvey believes he'll have more opportunity to play his own game at Newcastle and that McClaren will encourage him to take risks and express himself in the way he likes.
