SWANSEA have accepted Newcastle's increased £12million offer for midfield Jonjo Shelvey, according to reports.
Newcastle had a £10m initial offer rejected by the Swansea yesterday.
But BBC Wales claim the club immediately upped their bid as manager Steve McClaren zoned in on a priority target.
Swansea boss Alan Curtis had already admitted he was open to selling the England international.
“If a firm offer comes in for him then it’s something the club would probably consider," Curtis said.
Magpies manager Steve McClaren has been active in the transfer window already, having signed Henri Saivet from Bordeaux in a £4.5m deal yesterday.
The former England head coach is also expected to land a striker before the January transfer window closes, with Shelvey set to join Saivet in the heart of his new-look midfield.
QPR forward Charlie Austin and Saido Berahino of West Brom have both been linked with a switch to St James' Park in recent weeks.
