MANCHESTER UNITED have offered £15.3million for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
That is according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who claims Atletico are unwilling to sell the 21-year-old this month due to their transfer ban.
Diego Simeone’s side have been banned from registering players for the next two transfer windows, so are looking to keep hold of their current stars.
But Balague believes United would fail to land Niguez even if they met his reported £18m buy-out clause as the Spaniard has no desire to leave the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
“The latest I've heard is Manchester United have put an offer of €20m (£15.3m) on the table but Atletico Madrid don't want to let him go,” Balague said.
“And considering the ban, they won't let him go, so I think that's the end of that. Even if they met the buy-out clause, the player still has to want to go, and as it stands, he doesn't."
Niguez, who rose through the ranks at Atletico, has been in fine form for this season, with five goals to his name in 22 appearances already.
