MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a shock move for Jack Butland, according to reports.
United are wary of losing David de Gea to Real Madrid despite their impending transfer ban.
Madrid are set to be banned from signing players for two windows beginning this summer.
But De Gea, whose move to the Bernabeu fell through last summer, is still their long-term target to replace Iker Casillas who left for Porto.
And United are now keeping tabs on Stoke keeper Butland, according to the Daily Mail.
Butland has put in a host of impressive performances this season helping Stoke develop a new style of football in front of him.
Butland has made more saves (80) than any other keeper in the Premier League this season and has kept nine clean sheets from 22 games.
Butland will go to Euro 2016 as Joe Hart's understudy but if he continues this season's form will challenge for the No.1 jersey beyond the summer.
Butland joined Stoke from Birmingham in 2013. He spent time on loan back at Birmingham and at Barnsley, Leeds and Derby.
He became first choice at Stoke this season after Asmir Begovic left the Britannia for Chelsea.
