MICROSOFT has promised its Windows 10 Mobile upgrade will roll-out to smartphone owners 'soon'.
Back in December, Microsoft announced some bad news for Windows 10 Mobile users – it was not going to make its self-imposed deadline.
After previously confirming that smartphone users would be able to upgrade their handset to Windows 10 in December, the US technology firm pushed back the OS update until "early 2016".
Microsoft has now promised the update will arrive "soon", following a tweet from its official support account for Lumia and Nokia-branded devices.
"Win 10 Mobile will become available soon. Lumia 950 & 950 XL ship with Win 10, w/ additional devices to follow shortly. ^MS," Microsoft technical experts tweeted this weekend.

An anonymous source inside Microsoft told technology blog NokiaPowerUser that Lumia smartphone owners could expect to see Windows 10 hit their devices by January 12th 2016.
Among the changes in Windows 10 Mobile are the inclusion of a new web browser – Microsoft Edge, which will hopefully fare better than it has on the desktop.
Windows Hello is also included in the upgrade. This feature allows users to sign into their devices using face and iris recognition software.
Windows 10 also includes the ability to set a custom background image on the homescreen, which will then bleed through the translucent app tiles.
The notification shade also gets an upgrade in Windows 10 Mobile, which is now allows users to action notifications – including the ability to reply to a text – and a number of settings shortcuts, like camera and torch.
Right now, Microsoft's latest operating system – which NewsNewsBlog.blogspot.com reviewed here – is only available on its own Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL handsets.
But Windows 10 should soon roll-out to a number of smartphones, including Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.
When the time comes, you'll need to be running Lumia Denim update, Windows Phone 8.10.14219.341 or higher, and have some 8GB of internal storage free to upgrade to Windows 10.
Microsoft is expected to confirm the release date of Windows 10 Mobile soon.
