DANIEL STURRIDGE will not be risked by Liverpool against West Ham as Jurgen Klopp continues to prioritise the striker’s long term fitness before a quick fix.

Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge will miss Liverpool's trip to West Ham due to injury

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson also misses out after a long-standing heel complaint flared in the win over Sunderland on Wednesday.
Sturridge did not travel to the capital ahead of tomorrow’s lunchtime kick-off at Upton Park despite the Liverpool manager having raised the prospect at his press conference on Thursday of reintegrating the forward.

In the event Klopp has opted against pushing Sturridge back despite the player tweeting he was “good to go” after last Saturday’s win over Leicester City.
The England forward was left out of the travelling party for the win over Sunderland and will continue his training programme with Klopp previously indicating that the player was effectively undergoing a mini pre-season.

Liverpool’s collision with West Ham begins a possible run of eight games in January alone and while Klopp knows Sturridge has the ability to shape the club’s season, he will not jeopardise further injury setbacks.
Sturridge started the Capital One Cup win over Southampton and scored twice, but suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle in his next game which pushed him back onto the periphery.

The absence of Sturridge and Henderson comes with Martin Skrtel and Divock Origi also missing.
