ALEX TEIXEIRA has reportedly suffered a hamstring injury just hours after Liverpool's £25million bid.
News News Blog Sport understands Reds chief executive Ian Ayre has flown to Florida where Shakhtar Donetsk are at a winter training camp to sound out a deal.
A £25m bid has been tabled by the Premier League side, but Shakhtar are reportedly holding out for a fee close to the £40m mark.
But it seems negotiations might not be going much further as Liverpool's hamstring curse appears to have struck their transfer plans
Russian publication Sport-News News Blog' editor Enyi Renginald broke the news on Twitter and seemingly saw the funny side.
"Alex Teixeira pulled his hamstring soon after Liverpool made a bid. This is not a joke. Repeat, this is not a joke," he wrote.
"It happened during his last training with Shakhtar in USA a few hours before Ian Ayre got on the plane."

Klopp complained last month that hamstring was 'the shit word of the year for me' after losing a host of players to injury.
Teixeira was forced to sit out last night's 3-2 friendly defeat against Corinthians.
