LIVERPOOL must make signings in January to have any hope of finishing in the top four, claims former midfielder Danny Murphy.

Jurgen Klopp urged to spend in January to secure top-four finish
Jurgen Klopp has been told to spend money in January by Danny Murphy

The Reds are currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table and are six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
Since Jurgen Klopp's arrival they have enjoyed some big wins over Chelsea and Manchester City but have slipped up to lesser opponents like West Ham and Watford.

And Murphy believes the former Borussia Dortmund boss must add to his squad this month if he is to secure Champions League football for the club next season.
"I am looking at Liverpool to bring in a few because they really need to finish in the top four," he told talkSPORT.

"I think they need a goalkeeper, a centre-half and maybe if he could get someone in on loan with a bit of pace.
"Someone you could nick who is not playing in one of the big teams, maybe."

However, before they go shopping for attackers, Murphy thinks their top priority should be a new centre-back as Liverpool have shipped more goals than their fellow top-four contenders Arsenal, Manchester United and City.
"Most importantly, though, they need a centre-half because I think they look vulnerable," he added.
