SAM BYRAM will spark a transfer scramble in January with a host of clubs interested in the Leeds United starlet.
West Ham, Watford, Everton and Newcastle United are all keen to recruit Byram, who will not sign a new deal and is out of contract this summer.
Leeds will be entitled to compensation at the end of the season because Byram is under 24 years of age, but the sum would be set by a transfer tribunal.
Controversial chairman Massimo Cellino knows that selling this month could maximise Byram’s value rather than risk his value being set at around £2m.
Byram, 22, has caught the eye this season in a right-sided role where his versatility means he can play as a full-back or in midfield.
West Ham and Watford have impressed this season, but Everton would most likely appeal to the youngster given Roberto Martinez’s track record of developing young talent.
Everton are also close to a deal to sign Swiss U21 forward Shani Tarashaj, although he is likely to be loaned back to Grasshoppers.
