JAMIE CARRAGHER says Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kante has impressed the Liverpool legend more than Arsenal signing Petr Cech this season.
The Foxes midfielder has been a key reason behind Leicester's rise to the top of the Premier League table following his summer move to King Power Stadium from Caen in a cut-price £6.5m deal.
Cech has impressed in the Arsenal goal following his £9m switch from defending champions Chelsea in the summer, whilst Dmitri Payet was an important part of West Ham's impressive start before his injury blow.
But former Liverpool defender Carragher, who retired from professional football in 2013, feels Kante has been just as influential as Leicester's much-coveted forwards Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.
Carragher told Daily Mail: "If Dimitri Payet, who had been inspirational for West Ham following his arrival from Marseille, had remained fit, he may well have won this category.
"The attacking midfielder was the architect of West Ham's eye-catching early wins at the Emirates, Anfield and the Etihad Stadium and made his £10million fee look great value.
"Petr Cech, who swapped Chelsea for Arsenal for a similar price, has brought improvement to Arsene Wenger's side and will continue to make them better.
"Kante, however, has been just as influential as Mahrez and Jamie Vardy in Leicester's rise to the top and another feather in the cap of their scouting department."
Kante has scored one goal and has made two assists in 15 Premier League appearances for Leicester so far this season.
