REAL MADRID'S transfer ban could have a serious knock-on effect for Premier League clubs.
The Spanish giants were today barred from registering new signings for the next two transfer windows.
Atletico Madrid have also been handed the same embargo, which was dished out to Barcelona in 2014 and has only just been lifted.
FIFA have dealt the bans as punishment for breaking rules over the registration of players under the age of 18.
While both clubs will be able to complete transactions this January, they will be unable to secure any further deals until the summer of 2017.
And that could have a serious affect on how Premier League clubs do business.
Here, News News Blog Sport examines who are the winners and losers from the double ban.
Arsenal - Losers
If Real Madrid cannot sign players they are very unlikely to sell - and that could hamper Arsene Wenger's future transfer plans.
The boss reportedly remains an admirer of Real striker Karim Benzema, despite failing to land him last summer.
Benzema, 28, has been charged in relation to a blackmail case in France which is ongoing.
Wenger could be set to go back in for the France international after Euro 2016.
However, that is now unlikely - as is a bid for midfielder Isco.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is reportedly seeking to leave the Bernabeu for more regular first-team football but he may now be forced to stay.
Chelsea - Winners
Eden Hazard is unlikely to be joining Real Madrid any time soon.
The Blues playmaker has endured a mixed season this campaign, leading to reports Real were interested in his signature.
However, any proposed deal would likely have been struck at the end of the season.
But with Real unable to sign players, it looks as though Belgium international Hazard is staying put for now.
Chelsea's reported pursuit of Juventus' Paul Pogba has also received a boost with the downfall of Real.
Pogba, 22, is also wanted by Barcelona and Manchester United.
Real manager Zinedine Zidane was thought to have earmarked France international Pogba as his first Galactico signing since taking charge of the club.
But that move may now not happen.
Chelsea may also benefit from Atletico's ban in their attempts to appoint Diego Simeone as manager this summer.
The Blues are seeking a new long-term boss to take over from Jose Mourinho, with Simeone one of their targets.
And Atletico's ban could fuel Simeone's exit, with the manager likely to be offered plenty of cash to spend at Stamford Bridge.
One blow for Chelsea, however, is that their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann is all but over.
Chelsea are reportedly seeking a big-money striker this January as they prepare to axe Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao.
Griezmann, 24, boasts 14 goals for the season and was valued at a staggering £75m - a fee Chelsea were reportedly considering paying.
Liverpool - Losers
It was a long shot to begin with but any hope Liverpool had of landing Atletico striker Luciano Vietto has now ended.
Vietto, 22, has scored just three goals this season but has reputedly caught the eye of Reds scouts.
He remains somewhat of a bit-part player at Madrid but manager Diego Simeone will want to keep him as cover for new forwards.
Manchester City - Winners
The pursuit of Paul Pogba will continue without Real and Manchester City have the funds to match Juventus' £73m valuation of their midfielder.
Pogba's arrival could push Yaya Toure out the Etihad Stadium exit door.
Manchester United - Losers
Like Chelsea and City, Manchester United will be pleased the race to sign Paul Pogba has lost a major runner.
However, they will also be delighted that David De Gea will not be heading to the Bernabeu until 2017 at least.
De Gea tried to engineer a move to Real last summer but the transfer fell apart on deadline day.
He subsequently signed a new four-year contract at Old Trafford - but he is reportedly still keen to join Real.
United fans may not be too happy to learn, however, that any pursuit of Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo will now be put on hold.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is a keen admirer of both players and last autumn admitted he was interested in brining Ronaldo back to Manchester.
However, Real will not let their star men leave if they are unable to replace them with big-money signings.
They are also expected to miss out on Atletico ace Saul Niguez, who also now won't be sold.
