WAYNE ROONEY scored a spectacular goal to help Manchester United ease their way into the FA Cup fifth round.
Rooney opened the scoring for the Red Devils, before George Thorne drew the Derby level before half-time.
But second-half goals from Daley Blind and Juan Mata gave United a comfortable victory.
The result eases the pressure on under-fire United boss Louis van Gaal who admitted he could be sacked if he lost to Paul Clement's side.
The visitors started well and were rewarded for their good start in spectacular style with 16 minutes gone.
Rooney collected a pass from the excellent Anthony Martial on the edge of the area, turned and in one movement planted a curling 18-yard strike over the head of Scott Carson and into the top corner.
Despite dominating for the majority of the half United somehow went in to the break level.
With their first real attack of the match Derby caught United cold at the back.
Chris Martin's superb ball found midfielder Thorne who neatly finished from 12 yards out.
But United were back in front in the second-half thanks to Blind.
The Dutchman side-footed home Jesse Lingard's cross into the bottom corner to give United a deserved lead.
Derby continued to look for an equaliser, but United grabbed another through Mata to keep Van Gaal's head just above water for another day.
