CHELSEA are close to completing the signing of New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga, according to reports.
The American youngster is undergoing a medical at Chelsea's Cobham HQ this evening and could complete his move this weekend.
Miazga, 20, is the shock name Chelsea are bringing in replace Papy Djilobodji after he left the club on loan.
Chelsea are set to pay £3.5million for the USA international.
Miazga has Polish roots and doesn't need a work permit so could be registered by Chelsea straight away.
He'd been monitored by scouts from Manchester United, City and Liverpool but Chelsea look to won the race to his signature.
Chelsea are also closing in on the signing of Alexandre Pato who arrived in London yesterday.
