DAVID DE GEA is no longer interested in leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid.
The La Liga giants missed out on signing the Spanish keeper on the final day of the last transfer window, when a proposed £25million transfer collapsed at the final hour because the necessary paperwork wasn’t registered in time.
Both clubs were to blame for the saga and now Real Madrid have reportedly stepped up their interest again because they’ve been banned from signing players for the next two transfer windows.
But the Daily Star report that De Gea will shun a move to the Bernabeu this month after telling United he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
It’s understood that Real president Florentino Perez was happy to meet the £45m buy-out clause in his contract but De Gea will snub any potential switch back to La Liga.
The 25-year-old Spaniard signed a new four-year deal with United in September worth £200,000 after his move to Madrid fell through.
The Red Devils had signed Argentine number one Sergio Romero to replace De Gea but the former Atletico Madrid keeper soon forced his way back into the first-team and hasn’t looked back.
He was named man-of-the-match in United’s 1-0 at Liverpool on Sunday and he spoke prior to the clash on Merseyside of his desire to become the world’s best keeper at Old Trafford.
"I'm happy, I'm enjoying it and I believe in the team," De Gea told Sky Sports. “I train every day to be the best goalkeeper in the world, that is my aim.
"I'm not sure who the best is now, but it's what I want. Also, to win trophies for Manchester United."
