Alexandre Pato is on the brink of joining Chelsea

News News Blog Sport revealed earlier this week that Chelsea were in talks over a £10million move for the Brazil international.

And according to ESPN, Pato has agreed a contract worth around £34,000-a-week to join the Stamford Bridge club.

The 26-year-old reportedly turned down a lucrative offer to play in China and has also been offered to Liverpool and Tottenham.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp played down talk of a move for the striker, saying: "My private advice to you is don't follow the Pato path any longer."

Pato is a long-term target for Tottenham but the north London club are not thought to be interested.

Pato is desperate to play in the Premier League and Chelsea need a striker with injury doubts over their current frontmen.

Diego Costa is a doubt for Sunday's (4pm) trip to Arsenal with a bruised shin picked up in the 3-3 draw with Everton.

Radamel Falcao revealed on Instagram he is closing in on a return to fitness having missed much of the season with a thigh problem, but he won't be fit to play at the Emirates.

Loic Remy is Chelsea's only available striker ahead for the Arsenal change but he has been linked with a January move away.

Should Chelsea complete a deal for Pato, 26, he could make his debut against the Gunners.
