CHELSEA have been handed a welcomed boost in their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Alex Teixeira.
The Blues have are thought to have agreed a deal in principle for the Brazil international, who has 10 goals in as many appearances this season.
Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu is unaware of any official approach, but admits he would “fully support” Teixeira should the 26-year-old leave.
But Lucescu is only willing to sell Teixeira as long as the proposed offer satisfies both the club and the player.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to spend £30million to land Teixeira in a bid to turn their season around as they languish 14th in the Premier League.
"Teixeira and I are talked a lot in the press now,” Lucescu said. “At the moment there are no official proposals. So it makes no sense to talk about it.
"If there is an offer that will satisfy both the player and the club, I will fully support his move. I want to see my players perform in the best, top teams in Europe.”
