ALEXANDRE PATO will undergo a medical at Chelsea today as the club prepare to offload midfielder Ramires, according to reports.
Pato, 26, has reportedly agreed to join Chelsea on loan from Corinthians until the end of the season.
The Blues were prepared to offer the Brazilian club £7million for Pato - but it is claimed they changed their mind amid concerns over his injury record.
Brazil international Pato was one of AC Milan's brightest prospects before injuries curtailed his development.
He was sold to Corinthians in 2013 before being shipped out on loan to Sao Paulo.
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho first earmarked Pato as a potential recruit.
He is not cup tied for European competition and therefore will be eligible to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League should the deal be done before deadline day.
Website Football Insider claim Pato will undergo a medical today as Chelsea seek a work permit for the Brazil international, who has been capped 27 times.
But midfielder Ramires may not be there to welcome his compatriot to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea accepted Chinese Cup holders Jiangsu Suning's £25m bid.
Ramires, 28, cost Chelsea £17m back in 2010 and has won the Champions League, two Premier League titles, the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time in west London.
He signed a new four-year deal at Chelsea just last summer but has only played for the club twice since Christmas.
