ALEX TEIXEIRA has revealed he is very happy that Chelsea are interested in signing him.
News News Blog Sport exclusively revealed last month that the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder had verbally agreed a deal to join the Blues in January.
The Stamford Bridge club are now in talks with the Ukrainian side and the player's representatives over a £30million move and five-year deal.
Teixeira has scored 26 goals so far this season in the Ukrainian Premier League for Donetsk.
And Chelsea believe the 26-year-old can provide the spark that will ignite their season under interim boss Guus Hiddink.
Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu recently admitted he plans to block any bid for the midfielder in the January transfer window, but Teixeira remains hopeful that a deal can be done.
He told Brazilian newspaper O Globo: "Chelsea? I'm very happy that they're interested. On my part, I do everything to continue improving."
And the midfielder suggested that a move to the Premier League could improve his chances of breaking into the Brazilian national team set-up.
"Shakhtar Donetsk are not very big in Brazil, and I think I may need to move on to stand out and earn a place in the squad. That's my goal for 2016," he added.
