ARSENE WENGER has admitted Mathieu Debuchy's willingness to leave Arsenal is fuelled by the upcoming European Championships.
The French defender has made just seven appearances for the Gunners this season, having lost his place as first-choice right-back to Hector Bellerin.
He last played for France in a friendly in September and with Euro 2016 on the horizon, the 30-year-old is desperate to make the host nations' squad.
And Wenger has given an insight into Debuchy's reasons for leaving.
"Debuchy at the moment does not get the number of games," he said.
"The European Championship is in France soon and it is difficult for him to deal with that."
