ARSENE WENGER has hinted Arsenal will not sign a striker in January - because there is no one available better than the returning Danny Welbeck.
Wenger has just Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott as options for the central striking role in his side this season.
Welbeck has not played since April after being sidelined with a knee injury.
But the England international is poised to return within a month, causing Wenger to hint he is unlikely to buy another frontman in the January transfer window.

"I would prefer to have the players back from injuries," Wenger said when asked about his transfer plans.
"Welbeck is two to three weeks away and I am confident I will not find a better player than Welbeck on the market."
Arsenal unveiled their first January signing yesterday after Mohamed Elneny completed his £5million move.
Midfielder Elneny is the first outfield player Wenger has signed at Arsenal in nearly a year.
