APPLE is believed to be hard at work preparing for a press event in March, but you likely won't see any sign of a new smartwatch.
Apple is preparing for a press event in early March, where the US firm is expected to debut new iPads and a smaller four-inch iPhone.
Amongst the announcements, Apple will introduce a refreshed 9.7-inch tablet, the iPad Air 3.
The Cupertino company is also rumoured to introduce new straps for its Apple Watch range, as well as a small software bump.
But the Apple Watch 2 will not debut until September 2016, according to the latest rumours.
Little is known about the next generation smartwatch, other than it is expected to be a full redesign of the current hardware.
A FaceTime camera for video calls is also believed to be planned for the Apple Watch 2, sources have previously suggested.
The rumoured September announcement means an Apple Watch 2 would launch alongside the next generation iPhone, making it an expensive Christmas for Apple fans.
It does mean Apple will be able to capitalise on the holiday rush to boost sales of its redesigned smartwatch.
In the meantime, current Watch owners can expect a software update – watchOS 2.2 – to roll-out alongside the new iPad and smaller iPhone in March.
The watchOS update includes stability improvements, as well as the ability to sync multiple Apple Watches to a single iPhone.
The update bundles new functionality for the Maps app, including the ability to search for nearby restaurants, supermarkets, petrol stations and more from your wrist.
