Xbox One: Microsoft confirm special controller not available for purchase
This limited edition Crackdown 3 Xbox One controller will not be available to buy from shops

MICROSOFT have announced that the official Crackdown 3 controller for the Xbox One will not be available for sale in shops.

The upcoming open-world game is due for release at some point in 2016, although a multiplayer beta looks likely to launch in the summer.
A limited-edition Xbox One controller has been announced to celebrate the latest instalment in the Crackdown franchise, but players hoping to simply hand over cash in exchange for one are set to be left disappointed.

The controllers will be given away as prizes to fans

That is because the controllers have been reserved as prizes to be given away through contests on the official Crackdown Twitter and crackdown.com.
Apparently, only a ‘small, limited batch’ will be produced, but each one will be branded with the Xbox Live gamertag of each individual prize winner.

Speaking about the controller’s unique look, Crackdown 3’s senior art director Dave Johnson explained: “This collectible controller features a lot of the shapes and design inspiration from the Crackdown 3 Agency logo.
“We unveiled the redesigned version of the Crackdown logo at gamescom this year - it builds out of the darkness at the end of our First Look trailer. The logo doubles as the bade of the Agency, and we worked to retain that iconic design while updating it to match the bold new direction we’re taking the franchise.”
