West Ham boss Slaven Bilic: Mourinho’s sacking makes the Premier League a laughing stock
Slaven Bilic believes Jose Mourinho’s sacking has made the Premier League a laughing stock

SLAVEN BILIC believes that Jose Mourinho’s sacking has made the Premier League the laughing stock of European football.

The West Ham manager has taken teams all over the continent and knows full well what shockwaves will have been felt by yesterday’s news.
And he said: “Ten years ago, the Premier League was always a bit different. You were laughing at Italians 15 years ago when they were sacking the managers every year or whatever.
“I spoke with Mark Hughes after the game last week and he told me, after Wenger, he is the longest serving one. And he is what? Two-and-half-years. It is everywhere.
“Now with Mourinho, it tells you that no-one is safe. But you have to enjoy the job and do your best and basically work hard and enjoy it. I opt to do it that way without thinking what might happen but to enjoy it and do your best and try to stay as long as possible.”

“But unfortunately it is becoming that more clubs sack their managers in situations like this than stick with them.”
As Bilic pointed out, clubs can go through sticky patches without losing faith in their manager.
“I believe Jose would have turned it around,” he said. “It is not the first time these things are happening to big clubs. I mean last year it happened to Borussia Dortmund. At the end of the first half of the season in the Bundesliga, they were rock bottom I think.
“Okay, they didn't finish in the top four or five but they very soon came out of that with a few good results. The quality of the players and size of club unbelievable.”
