Andy Carroll has been ruled of West Ham's Premier League clash with Swansea |
ANDY CARROLL is injured – again – and will miss West Ham’s trip to Swansea on Sunday.
The striker has suffered a groin problem and manager Slaven Bilic is reluctant to use him after the striker’s long history of spells on the sidelines ever since he joined the club nearly three years ago.
Carroll returned late this season after knee surgery and has managed just 11 appearances so far in all competitions.
But while this latest setback is described as “minor”, Bilic is taking no chances with West Ham already missing long-term injury victims Manuel Lanzini, Dimitri Payet, Mauro Zayate, Victor Moses, Winston Reid and Diafra Sakho
“Andy Carroll is feeling his ground and he looks like he will probably be off for the Swansea game so that’s a big blow,” he said.
“It’s nothing major but scans show a little bit more problems, not long term, but at the moment it’s very unlikely he will play against Swansea.”
It means Bilic will be forced to turn to fit-again Enner Valencia in conjunction with Nikica Jelavic as his strike force.
