MEMPHIS DEPAY has turned to Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben to discuss his move to Manchester United, says Netherlands coach Danny Blind.
The former PSV Eindhoven star has struggled to have the impact that many expected at Old Trafford, scoring just five goals in 22 appearances for the club.
And his drop in form almost cost him his place in the Dutch national squad, with Blind raising concerns about his ability to be a ‘team player’ last month.
"In football you must function in a team - he doesn’t always do that,” he said
“I have also told him when I called him to say he’s not in there. That’s something he has to learn."
However, the Dutch coach has revealed recent talks with Louis van Gaal about his progress have been positive and the 21-year-old has also sought advice from his more experienced team-mates.
“I spoke to Van Gaal about how Memphis was responding at United during his downturn. Louis was really positive,” he told Voetbal International.
“I myself have also had good conversations with Memphis.”
“Sneijder and Robben have spoken to him about certain issues and that's good, then it's not only coaches [speaking to him]."
