NEWS NEWS BLOG SPORT brings you the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been boosted by reports suggesting Toni Kroos has asked for a transfer away from Real Madrid.
Spanish TV show El Chiringuito claim the midfielder told his agent Volker Struth to look for another club after he was benched for the 1-0 defeat to Villarreal last Sunday.
And The Mirror say United had a deal in place to sign Kroos before David Moyes' sacking in 2014, putting them at the forefront in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Liverpool have been warned off signing Joel Matip in January by Schalke's general manager Andre Breitenreiter.
Express Sport understands the 24-year-old is one of Jurgen Klopp's planned Bundesliga signings, although the German club insist he is going nowhere.
"I can rule out a winter departure - I am wishing for more competition between the players in the Ruckrunde [second half of the season]. We need that to maximise their performances," Breitenreiter said.
Chelsea loanee Radamel Falcao is preparing to return to Monaco in January, according to reports in French newspaper L'Equipe.
The report suggests the Blues want to pull the plug on his contract and the Colombian is understood to be keen on a return to find regular first-team football.
The once-prolific striker has two years to run on his current deal with Monaco, but has flopped on his loans to Manchester United and the Blues, scoring just five Premier League goals.
