Swansea set to turn to ex-Liverpool boss in pursuit of Premier League survival
Monk is currently still in post, but another negative result could spell the end

SWANSEA are ready to turn to former manager Brendan Rodgers with Garry Monk on the brink of losing his job.

Monk will report for duty at the club's training ground on Tuesday for talks where his exit could be confirmed.
It will mark a spectacular fall from grace for Monk. He saved the club from relegation after replacing Michael Laudrup in February 2014 before guiding Swansea to a best ever Premier League finish of eighth last season.
But the wheels have come off this season, with the manner of Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Leicester appearing to prove the final straw.

Chairman Huw Jenkins wants Rodgers, who led Swansea to the Premier League three years ago, to head back to Wales for a second spell in charge.
The pair have remained in close contact despite Rodgers leaving for Merseyside in the summer of 2012.
Rodgers, out of work since being sacked by Liverpool in October, was thought to be keen on taking a break from management.

Brendan Rodgers was dismissed as Liverpool manager earlier this season
But the chance to re-establish himself at a club where he remains well loved by the Welsh club's supporters could prove too good an opportunity to turn down.
Monk, who ironically was Swansea's captain under Rodgers, is due to receive a pay-off of around £3million having signed a new three-year contract only back in July.
Then he was being touted as a future England manager. Now he is certain to be relieved of his duties.

Jenkins and the Swans board have done their best to stand by Monk, the 36-year-old who has served Swansea with distinction as a player and manager over 11 years.
A run of just one win from their last 11 Premier League games has seen the Welsh club slide to within a point of the relegation zone.
The prospect of missing out on the riches of next season's lucrative TV deal is another factor on Jenkins making a call on Monk's future now.

Yesterday leading bookmaker William Hill suspended betting on Monk becoming the third Premier League manager to lose their job this season with Rodgers the favourite to step into the breach.
Rodgers, 42, does not appear to be the only manager sounded out.
Swansea had made contact with Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton, but it is understood he is prepared to remain in Scotland.
Former Manchester United boss David Moyes, who has been strongly linked with the post, is not thought to be a genuine contender.
