EVERTON manager Roberto Martinez raged at referee Mark Clattenburg for the "terrible decision" as Marko Arnautovic's last-gasp penalty sealed a thrilling 4-3 victory for Stoke.
An absorbing match, in which Xherdan Shaqiri scored a contender for Goal of the Season, was settled when Clattenburg adjudged England defender John Stones had fouled Arnautovic in the 90th minute.
"You cannot understand how such an experienced referee gives that decision right at the end," said Martinez. "It was such a wrong call.
"Someone with his experience should understand a bit about the game. John Stones got a touch of the ball and from that moment on you can see there is a doubt in the mind of the referee.
"We want to win these sort of games, but if we cannot win we should never lose because of that terrible decision from the referee right at the end."
