CHELSEA could be forced to pay Jose Mourinho if he manages Manchester United, according to reports.
Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea last week after the Blues' nightmare start to their Premier League title defence.
Speculation has been rife over his next move and it is widely expected he could replace Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Recent reports have suggested that Mourinho would have to take a £4million pay cut if he wants to assume the United hot seat.
Mourinho, who was rewarded with a new £10million contract with Chelsea in August, could take home around £6m if he succeeds Van Gaal.
The Daily Telegraph claim that the Blues will have to cover the shortfall of any wage cut by paying him £1.5m.
Chelsea, the report suggests, haven't discussed the terms of Mourinho's severance package.
Roman Abramovich, who appointed Guus Hiddink as interim boss, is searching far and wide for a permanent manager, with Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone amongst those linked with the position.
