MILLIONS of people are living sexless lives because of back pain.
It's said 5.5 million British women have slapped a sex ban on their partners because they're suffering with such chronic back pain.
But, signalling women probably have a higher pain threshold than men, only 22 per cent stopped having sex compared to 27 per cent of men.
In addition to this, almost a quarter of those questioned said they had to give up their hobbies when they had back pain.
Sadly, simply missing out on our normal activities because of back pain is the least of our worries, with emotional pain being felt too.
These figures were worked out by backpainhelp.com who are launching its new bac< Standing Desk. The company undertook a survey of 2,000 people to help understand back pain in more detail.
Hundreds of women confessed to getting short tempered, feeling stressed and ending up in tears of pain and frustration.
As a result of all this, back pain significantly impacted on a woman’s wellbeing with many left feeling isolated and demotivated.
One in eight said they took their pain out on their family and friends while one in nine admitted they had gained weight.
Mark Critchley, spokesperson for backpainhelp.com said: "In key areas such as having sex, going to work and driving, women seem to get on with things more than men, even though our study shows that during this time their mental and emotional wellbeing suffers more.
Back pain can range from mild to severe however keeping moving is very important to help aid recovery.
"At backpain help we have a range of products to help prevent back pain or relieve it while keeping active."
The bac< Standing Desk is available at a special introductory price of £249.99 while stocks last (RRP £349.99) from backpainhelp.com
